Contra Costa Interfaith Coalition
14 years ago St. Paul's helped establish, the Contra Costa Interfaith Coalition(CCIC). This coalition of 20 churches addresses the needs of those below the poverty line in Contra Costa County. We serve clients referred to us by 50 accredited agencies that work to break the poverty cycle. We aim for efficient and effective use of goods (furniture, cleaning and kitchen starter kits, fans, heaters and sleeping bags) food (15 emergency food boxes to Child Protective Services), monthly, time and treasure (less than $25000 annual budget). In the first 11 months of 2005 CCIC trucked 1387 loads of furniture including 99 kitchen starter kits and 55 cleaning kits.
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry buys food monthly for the Emergency Pantry at Social Services in Martinez. They then help families that run out of food at the end of each month.
At Thanksgiving and Christmas we put together 18-20 boxes of food as well as the regular supplies to send to Social Services for them to distribute.
The Food Pantry is supported largely by proceeds from the rummage sales and by contributions.
