Special Services
Throughout the year, St. Paul's has special services and blessings. Here are a few examples:
Blessing of the Backpacks This is a special blessing given to anyone going to school from preschool through graduate school. The Blessing of the Backpacks is given at the end of the Eucharist on the Sunday closest to the beginning of the school year, either late August or early September.
Blessing of the Animals This blessing is done during the Sunday Eucharist closest to the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Pet owners may bring their animals to the service. Dogs must be leashed; cats must be in cat carriers, and all others animals must be housed in their appropriate carriers or containers. Pet owners are also responsible for curbing their pet. Out of respect to other members of the congregation, pets such as snakes, farm animals, and those classified as exotic, are not permitted on the church property. However they will be remembered in the blessing.
Service for the Homeless This service is held on the lawn of the Fellowship House in conjunction with Fresh Start. The service commemorates National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day which is the first day of winter - the longest night of the year.
